Opero is a school management system built and hosted in Kenya. It keeps learner records, attendance, fees, results and bus runs in one place. Anyone can watch the short demo on this page with no login. A school that wants to test it can then use NURU, a practice school filled with made-up learners, with the demo parent and driver logins we send you.

What Opero helps a school manage

Every learner accounted for on the bus
Opero connects the driver, the guardian and the school in one transport workflow. It strengthens accountability and follow-up. It does not promise safety.
- Staff set up routes, stops, vehicles and trips. The driver starts a trip and works from a list of learners.
- The driver records boarding and drop-off for each learner, with the time.
- A recorded drop-off leaves the learner waiting for the guardian to acknowledge arrival in the parent portal.
- A trip cannot be closed while a learner is unaccounted for. The driver is never trapped: there is an escalation path, and an authorised person can close with an exception, which needs a reason and is recorded in the audit log.
In development: parent alerts by SMS, WhatsApp or email, and a verified record that the vehicle is back at school.
Exam generation: coming soon
We are building a teacher tool to draft exam papers for review. It is not available yet, and nothing on this page shows it. Marks entry, results and report cards are available now.

KSh 250 per learner per term, in every tier, for learner and guardian records, attendance, results and report cards, parent portal. Add-ons are a flat fee per term charged to the school, by school size. Per term, billed in week 3 of term.

Base is 450 x KSh 250 = KSh 112,500. Premium add-ons at list would be KSh 53,000; the bundle brings them to about KSh 42,400.
Setup
- KSh 20,000 once for a school with no existing system.
- KSh 0 for a school switching from an existing system. Schools switching from an existing system pay no setup fee. The scope of moving your old records is agreed in writing before work starts.
Questions
Do I need a login to watch the demo?
No. The video plays for anyone. Logins are only for testing: ask for them and you get a parent login and a driver login for NURU, a practice school with made-up learners. No real child is in it.
Does Opero send SMS, WhatsApp or email alerts to parents?
Not yet. Alerts are in development. Today a parent opens the parent portal to see and acknowledge a drop-off.
Does Opero guarantee a child’s safety on the bus?
No software can. Opero strengthens accountability: every drop-off is recorded, the guardian acknowledges arrival, and a run cannot be closed while a learner is unaccounted for unless an authorised person records a reason.
Can Opero generate exams?
Exam generation is coming soon. It is not available to try today.
Where is our data kept?
In Kenya. Each school’s records are kept apart from every other school’s. See the privacy page for how we handle personal data.
What does it cost?
KSh 250 per learner per term for the base system. Add-ons (Fees and M-Pesa, Transport safety, HR and Payroll) are a flat fee per term by school size. Setup KSh 20,000, or free if you are switching from an existing system. Per term, billed in week 3 of term.
