Terms of Use
Last updated 13 September 2026
1. What Opero is
Opero is a school operating system provided to schools in Kenya. A school subscribes, and its authorised staff, learners and guardians use the system to run the school.
2. Your data stays yours
The school is the owner and data controller of its data; Opero is the data processor, acting on the school’s instructions. The school can export its data at any time, and receives it back on leaving. See our Privacy Notice.
3. Acceptable use
Accounts are personal and must not be shared. Users must protect their credentials, use the system only for legitimate school purposes, and respect the privacy of children’s records. Attempting to access another school’s data, or to circumvent security, is prohibited.
4. Availability
We work to keep Opero available and backed up, with tested restores. Planned maintenance is communicated in advance where possible. Service levels are set out in the school’s services agreement.
5. Fees
Subscription fees and terms are as agreed with each school. Communication and payment gateway costs (SMS, M-Pesa) may apply per the school’s configuration.
6. Changes
We may update these terms and will notify schools of material changes. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
7. Contact
Questions about these terms or your data: contact your school’s administrator, or Opero at the address in the school’s services agreement. Data-protection complaints may go to the ODPC.
